Homemade Popsicles and Smoothie Recipes

Once you make some homemade popsicles or smoothie recipes, you won't be able to purchase them store bought anymore. They're easy and you know exactly what's going into them. Best part, they double up and can be a smoothie OR a popsicle with freedom to add and take away as you please.

Before I go into the smoothie recipes, you need to know that this recipe is very loose. You can change the fruit, add veggies, vitamin d, probiotics and so much more. It’s a great way to make your kids feel like they’re getting a treat, but it’s not pumped full of process junk and sugars. Comment on your recipe below!!

I highly recommend this Ninja blender. You can do so many things with it and it’s been a game changer for this recipe and others. We used to have a kitchen aid and after years of use, it bit the dust. But purchasing a new one was a happy surprise!!

Ingredients

4 cups *Frozen organic strawberries (or any other frozen fruit of your choice)
2 cups Frozen or fresh pineapple (if frozen, let thaw so you have some liquid/soft fruit to blend with)
1 cup Vanilla honey yogurt (optional)

*Note: You can pick your own fruit and freeze it or skip the freezing all together if you’re making popsicles, as they’ll get frozen anyways, but if you’re making this into a smoothie, I recommend freezing them.

Supplies

Popsicle Mold
Small sheet pan (that the mold fits onto)

Directions

  1. You’ll want your liquid ingredients on the bottom first. Place the thawed pineapple and yogurt into the blender. You’ll want to fill it up 1/3 of the way. I will do roughly 2 cups of pineapple and 1 cup of yogurt.
  2. Add your frozen strawberries and blend. You’ll know pretty quickly if it’s too thick or not. If it’s sticking to the side and not blending properly, add a little water or yogurt.
  3. If you’re drinking smoothies, stop here. There is enough to share! If you’re making popsicles, place your popsicle mold on the sheet pan. This creates stability when moving and freezing.
  4. Pour your mix into the molds and place the sticks in. Put in the freezer, level, for at least 2-3 hours or until frozen.

Quick Tip: If you opt to add spinach or other veggies, be sure to mix them with the liquid first, then add the frozen parts.
