Brush Creek Farm is in its testing phases of bringing a beard balm to market. We’ve been making this for years, but it was for personal consumption and we haven’t had many others use it. We’ve decided to test the market and see what ya’ll want.
Our Chosen Ingredients
We always want to open and honest with what we’re putting in our products. It’s the reason we started making them in the first place! Here’s the breakdown:
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil has a high concentration of lauric acid. It tames frizz to maintain a healthy texture and provide a sheen. Lauric acid is a type of fat that can be absorbed quickly and easily.
Olive Oil
Olive oil can prevent future split ends and is very nutrient dense for over-treated hair. For those of you with very coarse beards, this will help smooth and tame and provide a slight shine.
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil has long been known for it’s positive effects on hair. It stands out in this recipe as a star ingredient. While it conditions and leaves hair with more strength, it also works down the hair follicles starting at the root.
Beeswax
While this is primarily used in this recipe to bond the oil ingredients together, it has it’s own benefits for hair. It conditions, but doesn’t smother your hair and allows it to breath and keep it’s natural oils.
Essential Oils
Since we’re in the early phases of testing scents, I don’t know where these will land. They primary use is for scent, but EO’s each have benefits of their own as well. As we nail down what we’ll use, I’ll come back to update their benefits!

Have You Only Ever Used Beard Oil?
Don’t fret, we all have our preferences. My husband has used both, but loved the ease of applying this beard balm in mini deodorant tubes. It’s easy to distribute evenly on your beard and control the amount with pressure or layers. Oil takes a little more finesse to spread evenly. Who knows, maybe beard oil is next! We’ll see what the market tests bring back.
